what are you saying then?
something as "small" as the BMP should be offered for free?
well, in that case Sorrows Furnance update should have been offered for a price then, i mean its a lot bigger than the BMP.
just as they "dont need to" sell content beyond the core thats offered with the main games, they "dont need to" design any more extra content that may be given for free or may be sold for a price.
there are games that offer stuff to buy from their stores, like oblivion, where you can buy an armor for your horse for like $5.

It wasn't spend 800 dollars and get a free Iphone, nor was it spend 800$ and get a free PS3.
Half the people that paid online paid to get the bmp not an over-priced expansion, and anyone not being able to buy it is just bs. You had 2 months to come up with 30$, if I can get it in the middle-east it shouldn't be much trouble to get it in europe or the us.
And that a company needs to make money, sure it's true but there are other ways of doing it. They have more sources of income than just campaign releases, and shouldn't have to pull this shit to get a couple bucks off of us.
There's ways a company should treat it's customers and there's ways it shouldn't, sadly this is the latter.
Now, that is all.

If I want something and have the money I buy it. I don't wait for it to go on sale. I'd rather have it and enjoy it sooner.
Bought a new vehicle last year. I could have waited till now and bought the same vehicle cheaper, but I've been enjoying it all this time.
My only counter to your childish insults is to say that different people do things differently. Your way is neither right nor wrong. It's your choice. Don't make assinine comments towards others who do things differently.

I also could care less if more people have access to the BMP. To me it's not an "elitism issue" but simply a bad marketing issue. When all the questions were asked if the BMP was going to be sold seperately, Anet was very careful about what they said. They never came right out and let everybody know that this might be available in the future. As a matter of fact they went the opposite way instead by how their wording on the login page and store website read.
My issue is one of trust. Participate in future promotions? Buy from the online store? I think not. I will just wait and see from now on and get it cheaper from a retail store.

Well I for one have two copies of GW:EN. One I got from a retail store for $39.99 plus tax.. came out to around $43. I got that one for my son's account. My copy came for the in-game store. It cost me $35 due to my having the pre-release pack (which I didn't even buy in the in-game store). So for me, my copy of GW:EN was cheaper than the retail box, PLUS I got the BMP for free.. I considered it to be a pretty sweet deal.
I wasn't particularly worried about the box itself. I have one of them.. along with all the other boxes for 2 full accounts and 1 that has NF and Proph on it. Not to mention all of the pre-release boxes. I'm running out of space to be honest.
I'd have likely bought both of those GW:EN copies online if it weren't for the fact that they get touchy about using the same credit card on more than one account. If my son or daughter start playing more, I'll have a chance now to get them each the BMP.
Don't see any issue with this whole deal. I bought stuff as part of a promotion and got a free bit of content. Might do it again if whatever the freebie is strikes my fancy at the time. Glad they are providing it for those that never had the opportunity to get it before for whatever reason.
I do think the best thing they could have done though would have been to as mentioned before... put the pack on sale from the get-go and add it as a freebie for spending $xx in the in-game store. Best all around solution. I'd have done the exact same thing as I did in the first place.

I did not have 2 months to get into the BMP promo, I have only been playing for 2 months.....while the BMP isn't the only special promo i've missed it is the one promo i have missed that is actual playable content (missions or stories, whatever) the other promos are toys i can live without.
I guarantee I paid more for boxes I bought at Wal-Mart (40-50 bucks after tax) or whatever than I would have online.
Still think a lot of the people who are mad about the BMP being for sale now are mad for some rather less than acceptable reasons, like not being the only kid on the block with the cool toys anymore.....

Hmm I was under the impression that this bonus pack was for only those people that bought the game online and that was the whole point about it.
Anet is constantly doing things to make me not want gw2 but yet I understand they are a company trying to get as much money as possible like majority of greedy corporations.
Note to anet. Wheres my polar bear and when are you going to make lengendary survivor available to old characters :P

GW:EN was ironically more expensive through the on-line store, but when you factor this in it turns out I saved money.
And I got it earlier.
And I had a guarantee I'd get it at all.
No loss. Interesting to note they intend to sell it in box form - not the angle I'd have expected, but I did still expect them to sell it in physical form somehow, even if through magazines. Considering the limited-time nature of magazines, though, and the problems they've had with people stealing codes before, I shouldn't be so surprised.

The funny thing is it seems everyone expects that the majority of people are willing to pay 10 bucks for something barely worth the price. I doubt it'll net that much income for Anet.

I'm not sure it's worth $10 either. I'd feel a little ripped off for that price. But anyway, to some people it's nothing.

Is there really anyone that didn't expect this to happen after the massive number of posts requesting it???
Anet is a buisness, they wish to make money, people were BEGGING to give them money for this. Ofcourse they decided to sell it.

I got it for free, I played my share, I don't even have any BMP weapons because I don't like them that much. This is fine by me, more power and money to Anet for GW2.

This is not good. People put their trust in not being able to get this in the future and complied with the guidelines set out by Anet in order to get this little something special. Now everyone will be able to get this "bonus" by spending less in the ingame store than those who did originally. How paying more for something than you really had to is a bonus I will never know.
The wording of Anet implied that it would be available only during that promotion. I did say in a thread a while ago about the sale of the BMP that I would not mind if they put on the promotion again as a permanent thing to allow others to get it, but to now give it to people who pay less is just a kick in the teeth from a company I had put my trust in. This puts a big black mark against Anet for me.
Note to Anet: next time make a choice on the path you are going to choose when releasing content and make it clear to the customers. Purposefully misleading people to get them to spend more in the ingame store is a very poor tactic. Purposefully misleading people to get money from them is also known as scamming. Surprisingly, people in general don't like that.

They won't pay less than I did... pretty much got GW:EN and the BMP for the price of GW:EN. It was slightly more expensive than I could have bought it for at the time, but not US$10 more.
So it was cheaper to buy the two together. If you bought character slots you didn't need, yes, you got a bad deal. The BMP couldn't possibly have been worth the cut-off anyway, though, so the people who got it from character slots should have been more miffed when it came out than now.

It is really amazing how people still complain when so many complained about not being able to access the online store to get the BMP offer. So Anet turns around and listens to everyone that complained and makes the BMP available in retail for only 10 bucks.
If you thought Anet was going to turn around and give the BMP for free you were highly mistaken. I mean it is ok for other companies to charge for extra stuff but when it comes to Anet charging a measly 10 bucks for something people go up in arms over the whole thing. I bet it didn't stop people who are complaining of the BMP from paying 9.99 for extra 3 character slots though.
Hate to say it but only one world comes to mind and that is "spoiled". Guild Wars players are one of the luckiest players when it comes to mmo games. Almost every other mmo charges a monthly fee while Guild Wars does not. It seems that once you start giving people stuff for free they always expect everything to be free. I'm sorry but that is not how the real world works and is totally unrealistic.
Bottom line, if you want the BMP it will be available to you if not then don't buy it. It is as simple as that. The rants and complaints are very childish and immature.

It's funny how when the BMP was released the people who didn't have it were crying about how they couldn't get it while many people who had it were laughing and basically saying "f*** you" to the people who didn't have it.
Seems like now that's all been reversed

Wow, last time that I take advantage of a "promotion" from Anet. I'm not sorry I got the BMP, but I think it's very poor form misleading people in this way when they thought they were supporting Anet by taking advantage of it during the promotion period. I wouldn't have minded running the promotion again, but simply offering it for sale, imho is just really poor form and a kick in the face to everyone who DID support them.
